And, of course, the English item names are entirely made up to sound cool (something like "medicine, picturebook" changed to "potion, pokédex"). ![]() The Japanese also tends to treat the pokemon a lot more as "living creatures" in its dialogue, and the English just leaves that out more often. the Japanese might say "Paralyze does this!" but the English adds in "Buy a paralyze cure to heal it!" afterwards for no reason. trainer tips or general pokemon info they generally added or deleted stuff as well, ex. (EDIT: removed some stuff from this post that's unnecessary now that I started posting examples in here.)Ī lot of little stuff about the personalities of characters was changed, and whenever there was ex. I very quickly noticed that the English translation changed a LOT of stuff, in fact almost every line is changed in some way or another even if just slightly, but usually even the slight changes affect characterization or make things more confusing.
